Good Deed Project Day 14

Teach a kid a funny joke...
A child's laughter is a pretty awesome sound. It awakens the spirit and injects happiness to all within reach. A child's appreciation for happiness and laughter cannot be compared. Teach a child a funny joke and see them light up with laughter and happiness as if you gave them the greatest gift of all. I guarantee they will share it as well as the happiness and enthusiasm with everyone they know. Perhaps the best pay it forward ever.

Good Deed Project Day 13

Have a cup of coffee with an old friend...
I today's world we are all busy, and as we get older that time we once had to spend with our friends sometimes becomes less and less. Today is about carving a chunk of time out of today and opening it up to someone else. This is actually a good deed for both you and the other person. The act alone lets someone know you have not forgotten them, which sometimes is the greatest complement. Use this time to catch up, enjoy memories and observe the fact that time waits for no one. With this thought in mind it might make you reassess some of the things going on in your life, maybe even cause you to make more time to rekindle this past friendship. Maybe its a chance to put something to rest, close a chapter, or maybe just clear something up. The possibilities are endless...

Good Deed Project Day 12

Tell a friend she is beautiful...
You never know what people are going through. A kind word can do wonders. Maybe at that moment it is just what they needed to hear.

Good Deed Project Day 11

Be Kind to a Vet...
Today being Veteran's Day and all I think this is just perfect for taking the time appreciate those that have done so much for the rest of us. Those that have lived and died for our freedom. One day hardly seems enough to say thank you but in the spirit of the day, do just that. Do whatever you wish to show your appreciation (in legal and comfortable limits of course :) Buy them a cup of coffee, or pay for their gas, hold the door open, just say thanks, shake their hand, give them flowers, the list continues and your creativity has no limit, neither should your thanks. Thank you.

Good Deed Project Day 10

Take Time for you!
This past couple of days you have done a lot for the better of others. Some times we all need a break. Today is about you do a great deed for yourself and make the day about you! Do something fun you have been wanting to do, or get the rest you so greatly deserve... Get rested because I have more challenges that follow.

Good Deed Project Day 9

Mend a rift in a friendship.
Now by this I do not mean to reunite your self with someone who truly did you or someone you know wrong. However some times we can all be a little bit touchy and allow petty feelings to stand in the way of a truly blessed friendship. If this is the case... deal with it today.

Good Deed Project Day 7

Say hello to strangers...
especially the elderly
You never know what a simple hello can do. You also never know what is going on with the people around you. The elderly come from a time when technology did not rule communication, when people talked to one another they did it face to face. Nowadays people walk around with their eyes and attention glued to a smartphone. Make someones day a little brighter by acknowledging their presence and simply saying hello. Who knows what it will lead to next or even how it might have helped someone. All in all its as simple as putting down the smartphone and saying hi.

More than a pretty face...

So you have probably noticed by now that there is some pretty interesting imagery being posted with my posts. You may also be saying "that’s a pretty sweet image I wouldn’t mind having a copy of it myself". That is exactly the point of me using these images... All of these images come from artists on Society 6! I am featuring their artwork to help advertise and support my fellow creatives. On society 6 you can view a whole community of artists and their work which you can then buy on a mug, t-shirt, phone case, iPad case, art print and more! It’s a great site full of some amazing work. So if by chance you see an image on the site you adore I will always have a link posted to the artist’s gallery so that you can explore more.

As a creative, a small business owner and advocate, I think that it’s important to support these ventures, these dreams. To buy from a small business not only supports a person’s dream, but a community, and makes you feel great too. How many purchases can you say does that?

Connect with local small business on Facebook on Shop Small DMV. Shop Small DMV .

Good Deed Project Day 3

Share the love...
Tell your mom or dad your favorite memory of them...
These people are the reason you exsist. Good, bad or indifferent being a parent is not an easy task. So tell them that you appreciate them today by telling them about your favorite memory that you have of them. They will appreciate it more than you know.

November Second...

Honoring those passed.

Today as many know is November second, for some, Day of the Dead. This is a time where the temperatures begin to drop, vegetation begins to die off and we prepare for the harsh cold and darkness of winter. This is also a time where we give thanks for what has been bestowed upon us this year. In this time of giving thanks it’s important to honor those who came before us and those who are no longer with us. Samhain which is now to some Halloween but this is also a time to honor those gone I usually start this tradition on the 31st of October and End on the 3rd of November. How you choose to do this is entirely up to you. There is no right or wrong answer, but here are some ways that you can pay honor.

      1. Dedicate positive actions in the name of those gone.

I think a great deal of us would like to know we are the reason behind any positive action by someone else in this world. Let those passed be your inspiration and who knows maybe your catalyst.

2. Be open to direct communication from your ancestors. Keep your eyes, ears, and hearts open who knows what you will learn when you listen.

3. Establish a place to honor those passed. Maybe it’s a few pictures on a shelf, maybe you create an altar, maybe you make a garden, maybe you make a scrapbook or a photo album.  Who knows, the sky is the limit, and it’s up to you. This is a place you can go at anytime and see them or think of them.

4. Pull out pictures and mementos. Think about positive memories you have shared, think of who they were, what they represented, did you look up to them? What did they do with their lives? What do you admire about them? Use this info to reflect upon your own life, not compare. Perhaps they inspire us to be a better us.

5. Provide an offering. This can be simply putting flowers on a grave. Doing something good for others in their name, or any other thing you can come up with. Again there is no wrong answer.

Good Deed a Day Project Day 2

Befriend someone new.
Where would we be without our friends? They bring us inspiration, joy, comfort, memories, and so much more. With this being the case who wouldnt want more of these types in your life? Do yourself and someone else a favor and start a new friendship with someone today, who knows where it will take you both.

And whos to say it has to be a person? Any of the earth's creatures will do.

The Good Deed Project Day 1

Listen more, talk less.
These days we are all just waiting for our turn to talk, the problem is we are not really listening to what is being said to us, and we may very well need to. Maybe someone is telling us about their day, or giving us directions, or advice, the point is we are often so caught up in our own thoughts we have not made any room in the conversation for anyone elses. Today do yourself and those around you a favor and listen more and talk less. You might be amazed at what you hear or what you learn when you shut up and listen. This not only applies to people but life as well. Sometimes life is making a very clear point but you are so blinded by yourself you cannot hear/see the reality before you.
Share your experience below.
